I have successfully build the project on my local machine.while running, it's working fine in all the latest browsers, except MSIE 10.0.

A JavaScript error I am getting is as below:

Unhandled exception at line 83, column 38 in http://localhost:28182/Scripts/Javascript/astreeview/astreeview_packed.js
0x8l00a138f - JavaScript runtime error: Unable to get property '1' of undefined Jar null reference

According to me, this error is because of the script is giving '1' only for the browsers version in single digit.

In this code snippet I am getting the error at line 83: rdc.a3.a46=_rdc.a3.a4&&([/MSIE (\d).0/i.exec(navigator.userAgent)][0][1]==6);

For example, for IE 8.0 or 9.0 it is giving '1', but for IE 10.0 it is giving 'null', because of two digits-10-., so the above and(&&) condition is not satisfying.

Thanks,

Thank you for your reply!

1 -- Is done! Thanks for the nice tip, it's awesome!
2 -- We have checked it, and as per our reading it seems that for admin users -- AD integration is possible. But we need it for survey taker user, i.e. the users who are going to fill survey should get logged in using their AD credentials. And that same information should go in their survey submission.

Sorry, If we are demanding more from you! :-) But we know that you can!

Cheers,
Would like to know your views on following two things:

Can we show questions in random order to each user who is opening it?

Can we make Survey enabled for Active Directory users i.e. in a single domain. Means the users who are going to fill the survey will be from same domain,
Eager to know your views!

Thanks for the response.First option works great to allow user to resume the survey later on but is it possible to load the user info for the survey which he has submitted the values and allow him to take the survey again? The second time he comes, he need not give details like name, age, sex which he has already given the last time he took the survey. The second time when he comes, the values which he submitted can be loaded back and can ask him to do any change and submit again as new survey response?

You can try to make use of a combination of two survey features:

at survey settings: a. resume of progress (to save in between results and resume answering later); b. previous/ next page navigation

repeatable sections option (see form builder - edit question) to allow to add additional answers

Hope this works for you.

I need to restore user saved info for a particular survey once he comes back to finish the survey.
The user will enter some details and will have to answer few similar questions based on the parameter selected in a dropdown list. Is this possible somehow?

Ex - First fill in the user name

  Location
  Option --> 1
                   2
                   3
So he can fill in the name, location and submit the details for Option 1, come back later, select option 2 and submit again, and so on for option 3.

Please advice.

Just noticed this dev site's wiki/documentation where it seems to be a lot easier to find info than the project's main site. Unfortunately it looks like a lot of it is out of date.

New Post: First 5 Minutes

I need a .NET-based survey app, and found yours
here.

I will start with the nice part: clearly there is a lot of value here. I can offer something right now in this post that few will, I hope you can take it in the spirit intended. I am not saying that anything has been done incorrectly; I hope instead that
you can use my experience to improve your on-boarding for the rest of the folks who discover your project. All this free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. : )

Here is my summary of my experience so far:

1) My first priority is to see how the surveys will look for the end user. (Does this open source project dodge the trend of poor design in open source?) I still haven't found a sample survey yet. Exploring the demo site I hit one password-protected survey
and another that asked for an email invite code. Please create a clear path to take a serious, demo survey showing off what your project can do. I even went to Twitter and saw that this was promised July 30... but I couldn't find it.

2) The demo site should have a clear policy on how it is cleaned up occasionally. I logged into the demo site and tried to figure out how to get into a sample; the whole 'tree on the left + same list of all surveys' was a bit confusing, I couldn't see any
indication of which survey was being affected as I used the top menu items.

What survey am I managing? I have no idea!

2) In this era of Bootstrap and other helpful tools, the main site feels outdated and the admin pages feel the same. I'm no UX expert, but I believe that it's generally accepted that red = danger, stop, error, etc. so you might put some thought into that.
(The business site looks better.)

First thing I want to see is screenshots + an optional demo video... should sell me in like 10 seconds. Put this stuff into the business site if you want, that's fine, just make the open source stuff clearly linked from it. A proprietary survey building
tool called VisiMojo debuted on Hacker News today, they open with Google Apps presentation slides then drop you right into a pre-built survey.

3) I checked out a YouTube vid, nice if a bit blurry. Then I saw the comment that it was out of date...

HTH

I am also completely new to CodePlex environment. I have just downloaded the Survey 2.0 Stable release. I have two queries-

1) Since there is no .proj file or solution file included in download, how do I start the proj in Visual Studio.

2) Username, password = demo is not working for http://demo.surveyproject.net/

Please suggest. I am looking forward to work for this project.

Thanks,

Hello Kevin,

For formal licensing reasons the Telerik RAD AJAX controls are not used and supported by the Survey Project. The SP sources are published under the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPLv3). The Telerik ajax controls are licensed commercially: http://www.telerik.com/purchase/license-agreement/ajax.aspx.

The Telerik license is not compatible with the SP licensing which obliges you to publish and share the sources of any changes or new version of the SP tool you create. The Telerik licence only allows for limited redistribution and not sharing any sources.

To have your general technical question answered (replace asp.net controls with Telerik) we would suggest to consult the Asp.net forums or the Telerik websites.

Kind regards,

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to use SurveyProject and on our project we also use Telerik RAD AJAX Controls. What I would like to do is to be able to add the Telerik controls in place of the ASP.NET/HTML controls currently drawn on each survey page.

From what I have gleaned from the source code, this is not a trivial task; it looks like it involves a whole object model (and database records) I would need to add for each different type of control.

That said, does anyone know if this would be actually possible given that C# does not allow multiple (class) inheritance?

Thank you.

Sincerely,
